The death has occufTed of Mf . W. A. Barton, aged 94, a former Magisfcrate who retired -in 19-16, says a , Gisborne message. Mr. Barton came to New Ze'aland at an early age wi'th his patents, setfling in Hokitika, where he completed his education -and then joined the Jus • fcice Department in -1891. He was "transferred to Gisborne, where he was Clerk of the Court until his appointment to the Bench in 1900.
