' It was officially stated in Ruva today that it was doubtful if even one Fijian was among the 44. The candidates wero almost exclusively Fiji Tndians. ^ The only Fijian students 'wlio go to New Zealand liniveYsities "are those wlio hold scholarships or other high recom mendation, and it is stated that charges sucli as Professor Rutherford 's bring a monsure of discredit on genuine Fijian students, whose records (as far as can be ascertainod) are witliout exception exceller.t.
