S0CIAL JSECURITY ' ■ * and the ■?" 40 H0UR WEEKWk0bz Ms A/atmn gtmtds The policy of the Labour Party is to cast doubt on what the National Party promises to do. Labour is on the defensive and, not having a cortstructive pfan to offer, i§ endeavouring to play on the psychology of fear. To clarify the issue once and for ali the National Party gives its pledge that whan it becorsies the Government: 1 IT WILL CONTINUE THE 40 HOUR WEEK Many of its members advocated and instituted it in their own businesses long before it became law. 2 IT WILL NOT CUT WAGES It believes in high wages — in a fair dayJs pay for a fair day's work. It will ensure greater 'take home' money by reducing taxation on overtime and encouraging profitrsharing and incentive pay. s 3 ir WILL NOT CUT PENSIONS, AGE BENEFITS, ETC. 4 Labour has done no more than its duty in fixing the current age benefit rate, for everyo'ne knows that the £1 today buys only one half £.f% of what it did formerly. ^ The National Party will maintain the pension rate and will allow age beneficiaries to earn 30/- per week instead of 20/- as at present. ^ ^ Ifa husband desires to continue in employment to say 65, then heand :>Q& bis wife both receive an extra 2/6. per week for every year . beyond 60 * that application for benefit is delayed. i.e. £2-12-6 per week each, 4 IT WILL MAINTAIN THE FAMILY ALLOWANCE - "Child Allowance" was a platform in the National Party policy at the 1 943 election and Labour conveniently adopted it. Good! The Nationaj '^0Party will see that it is maintained. . . - r Dout te hiijtedty tatom talk - J'"' fotemrfomi.
