WELLINGTON, Nov. 24. The following otlicers were elected at the aunual conference of the New Zealand Amateur Atliletic Association: — Patron, the Goveruor-Geueral, Sir Beruard Freyberg; presideut, Mr. L. A. Tracv; vice-presidents, Messrs A. Moon (Auckland), Johu JMasou (Hawke's Bay-Poverty Bay), G. F. Dixon (Wellington), J. C. Harbut (Canterbury), G. W. Clark (Otago); cliairmau, Mr. H. I. Austad; treasurer, Mr. D. T. Woodfield; acting secretary, Mr. J. W. Holley; delegates to N.Z. Olympic aud British Empire Games Association, Messrs H. 1. Austad, S. G. Leeder, R. Spence; audit'or, Mr. J. H. Barnett; overseas representatives, I)r. A. S. Lamb (Canada), Dr. A. E. Porritt (England), Mr. Ira G. Emery (Soutli Africa)," Mr. E. S. Marks (xiustralia), Mr. R. W. Marshall (U.S.A.) The association decided to seek an opiuion from the luternational Amateur Atliletic Federation regarding the association 's power to affiliate with the New Zealand Council of Sport. It was aunouuced that J. Troloar, crack Australian sprinter, was coming to New Zealand to compete against the touriug American athletes.

The annual report stated that the 50th year of the association 's history had been one of progress evinced by iiicreasing jiarticipation in atlileties. The report stressed tlio importance of eixeouragement l'or juniors, thus providiug adequately for senior competition in the future. The develbpment of women's sport was also particularly satisfactory. Everv effort would be made to hold.a, coachiug scliool tliis summer but the location was ditlicult. A sub-comiuif-tee had been authorised to purchase up to six slow motion lilms from America for coachiug purposes. The report meutiOned the Londou Olympic Games 1918 and stated that the association would adhere to its policv of seuding- abroad only tliose athletes who would liave a cliance in international coutests. The association expected geuerous public support for the visiting American athletes who would impart .valuable knowledge to local nien. It was aunouuced tlmt the national senior track championships for 1916/17 will be held at Dunedin and the junior ehampionships in Auckland. The national senior and junior cross country event s will also be held in Auckland.
