The , Sundav PictOrial 's political co'rrespondent says a hook which has ap[teared in Japan apparently with the consent of tlie occupation authorities, alleged that Mr. Eden, shortly before tSingapore fell, approached .Japan witli a peace oft'er. The book, written by a leading Osaka newspaperman, lias been given wide publicity in Japan and America. i Mr. Eden allcgedlv proposed thatJ,Tapan sliould return Malav to Britain who would recognise Japan 's pre poriderant position in Xortli China and persuade America and China to make peace 011 those terms. Further, that Japan propose an armistice iniuiediately, thus saving British iiud American face. The correspondent sa.ys Mr. Eden told him the whoje thing was entirelv untrue and the Foreign Office says it has no foundatiom
