"Lightning blastfed a crowded picture theatre, a ' b'akefy and a Ttat duriig at sliort fife'rce Storm in Sydney last night. -At the Plaza Thfeatre in the subiith of Waterloo, a hall of fire bufst through the pfo'jection box window and s&t 800 feet of film oh hre. "Women in the aitdience screamed as the fla-me's flared hiside the projec - tion box and smoke curled out of it. . The theatre owner stopped a pahic by talking to. the audience from the stage until they were ahle to file out. A . bakery at Maroubra Junction had a chimney split by lightning. The dislodged brieks tore a hole in the iron roof but there was . little other damage done. in a flat at Eing's Cross lightning set fire to a pillow oii a verandah but it was SObn ektinguished.
