Det'i nding coiumel said .Tessie's oondition, des[»ite evory eare and attenlion. had deteriorated from birlh, and life had been made praetically irnpossible for the parents. Even institutions would uot take her. Long. in a statement to the poliee, said .lessie did not know night from day. She made unearthlv noises and t hrew things about. He decided to have her death on liis eonseience rather than send her to an institution, where she wonld lie restrained in bed and just kept alive. ITe sat her in a corner, gavel her choeolate and turned 011 the gas| tap. Ile plaved with her and kissed her goodbye. She closed her eyes and went limp. Her death had haunted liim ever since, but at last she was at peace.
