EMPLOYMENT SURVEY
Another group of industries has been covered ip the Mlf-yearly survey at present being cari'ied out by the Nationai Employment Service and relative figures are now mado available by the District Employment Officer, Mr. L. W. Cozens. Details of this group comprising 14 industries with a * tota'l of 'J3 separate units, are set out hereunder together with the numbers, males and females, on the pay-roil of each industry. The figures in parentheses ihdicate existing vacancies: — Cfiemical products, etc., 80 males, 31 (6) females. Rubber manufacturing 37 15) males, 4 f.emales. Printing and bookbinding 195 19) males, 75 (8) females. Fur dressing 3 males, 7 (2 ■ fepiales. Wool scouring 42 (2) males, 1 female. Leather goods 6 males, 2 females. Artificial textiles 2 (3) males, 21 (8) females. Woolien and knitting 42 males, 76 (17) females., Clothing 36 (1) males, 363 (125) females. Footwear 1 male, 19 females. Other textiles 15 males, 14 (26) females. Boot repairing 4 males, 1 female. Mattresses, sacks, woolpacks 232 (182) males, 77 (68) females. Toys, games 1 female. It sliould be notgd that the above figures do not include proprietois or part-time workers of whom there is an overall total numbering 53, but the buoyancy of the industries mentioned is . refiected by thj increase of 157 employees from the beginning of the six-monthiy' period covered by the syrvey completed as at October 15.
