MOUTOA DRAINAGE BOARD
NOVEMBER MEETING The November meeting of the Moutoa Drainage Board was held in the board's offi.ce on Monday evening, and was presided .over by Trustee S. W. Barber (chairman). Also present were Trustees E. H. Robinson, W. H. Smith, G. Cuil, N. I. Easton and the clerk (Mr. G. V. Fraser) . The clerk reported that the bank balance' was in credit to the extent oT £369 2s 5d, the balances of the main ledger accounts being, general account £209 10s 6d and interest accoimt £159 11s lld. The report was received and accounts amounting to £56 4s 4d were passed for paymenfe. The foreman (Mr. W. Kruse) reported that during the past month two men had cleancd scven chains of Wall's outlet drain. This stretch was found to be very heavy in swamp grass, and Ihe banks were tramped in. Fifty-one chains of Langley's north drain were trimmed and dragged one sidc. This drain was bad with grass and water seed. The floodgates were attended to. The chairman commented that the drains which had becn cleaned early in the winter were now showing a big growth of weed. Trustee Cull reported that hc had noticed small elumps of swan grass growing in the main drain from pipces missed by the drag line. He thougbt that these would be better removed before the summer growth occurred. Trustee Easton said that he had noticed that a weed had taken charge of the centre of the main drain in places, and where it had a hold the water was blocked j in the centre and running only at 1 the sides. Trustee Cull said that this particular weed was bad in all drains this year. The report was received and the matters raised noted for attention.
