WELLINGTON, Nov. 21. Thc quarterly meeting of the Nortli Island Motor Union carried the following resolution unanimously: "That tliis meeting of thc N.I.M.U. vicws with Jgo&ccrn thc s.tatcnient of thc Minister .of Finance, Hon. Thc fuudamental principle underlying thc payment of thc pctrol ' tax was cdeariv outliucd on thc introduction of thc tax in 1927, and as a nieasurc of road jisage it was primarily a tax for thc construclion, rcconstructrun and maintcuance of roads.
