The appointment of vicecaptain is not likely to be made untii tomorrow. Hassett is expected to be clioseu. Austfalia's team for the first Test has met with the general approval ,of ericket writers. It is considered to be a powerfui and well balanced team, the average age of which is just under 29 years. The actual twelfth maii will probablv not be named until the morning of the match. It is considered that he will come from 'among the three Vietorians — Meuleman, Johnson and Tribe. The weather 011 the day of the match will influence the selectors' ehoiee. Only three of the 12 chosen — Bradman, Hassett and Barnes — have played in a Test. Apart from Tribe and Toshaclt every oue of the 12 selected has scored a eentufy in first-class cricket. The team ineludes four all-rounders in Miller, MeCool, Lindwall and Jolineon. For the first time since Warren Bardsley's retirement Australia will liave a competent left-liand opening batsman in Morris. McCool and Morris are the best slip lieldsmen to play for Australia since Jack Gregory in the 1920 's. Reports from Adelaide say that on yesterday's form Bradman will be as lit as auy member of Australia 's Test team. His running between the vickets while scoring his century was as crisp as before the war-, and he showed obvious enjoyment in chasing runs.
