SMUGGLING RIFE
Received Wednesdav, 7 p.m. SHANGHAI, Nov. 19. Deisel powered junks equipped with macliiueguns, are engaged in extensive suniggling of luxury "goods along the south China coast, according to a high Chinese customs official. Chinese naval personnel are also reported to be participating. The Chinfese ban on the importation of luxury goods has eaused a flourishing illicit trade in uylons, cosincties, eigarettes, fouutaiu peus aud jewellery. The worst coastal area is between Maeuo and Fort Bayard and also Canton estuary. The goods originate at Macao, Hong Kong, Indochina and Manila. It is also reported that there is a revival of the smuggling out of items such as wolfram ore for which Hong "Kong was a big prewar market.
