BOWLING NOTES

OTAKI CLUB'S MEETING The monthly meeting of the ccmmittee of the Otaki Bowling Ciub was held on Tuesday night, the president (Mr. W. Wilson) occupymg the chair. Apologies for absence were received from Messrs. Boggs, Buxton and Robertson. A letter was received from the Levin Club asking if the club could accommodate six rinks on Saturday; — Request acceded to, the games to be played on the Otaki green. The / Paraparaumu Beach Club wrote stating that December 7 would not suit it for a match for the Hyams' trophy. — Match to be arranged. Arrangements are to be made to have bowls tested, it being pointed out that untested bowls could not be used in competitions cr tournaments. Mr. Eaton is to be asked to make an inspection of bowls. A letter was read from Mrs, Manttan, asking that two rinks be placed at the disposal of lady bowlers. — Members, while sympathetic, decided that the request could not be acceded to, es'pecially as the playing area of the green was already taxed. It was deemed advisable to „ suggest to the ladies that an effort be made to secure a green of their own, it being pointed out that perhaps sufficient playing area could be secured on the croquet lawn at the domain. It was agreed to give the ladies any assistance possible. A suggestion that the matter be placed before a fuil meeting of the club did not meet with the approval of the committee. Members stood in silence out of respect of Messrs. Hamilton, Ilealy and Pullman, members who liad recently passed away. The , first Sunday in -February was placed at the disposal oi the R.S.A. for the usual tcuvnament.
