FROM CABARET TO STARDOM Lilli Palmer, wife of Rex Har- , rison, was born in Austria. With her family she left Austria in 1933 , rnd obtained a position in a cabaret. Then, one night, it seemed as if her luck star had taken a" hand in things. She was introduced to the i famous Sir Alexander Korda. With uhe courage of .,youth, she decided to ,hrow up her job, and go to Eng land in the hopes of a screen test. 3he arrived in London with only £30 in her purse, and rang up Sir Alexander, wondering if he would /emember her. He did — and she got the test. Later, she found herself the proud owner of a 5-year contract, rnd eventually, while playing in 'No Time for Come.dy," met Rex Harrisoh, whom she married. Among'"her more recent films are "The Gentle Sex," "Thunder Rock" and "Beware of Pity." When her .husband went to Hollywood to play King ' lytongkut in "Anna and the King of Siam," Lilli and their son Rex Carey- went with him, and she is now to appear in an Americanr film herself, 'opposite Gary Cooper,.
