Received Wednesday, 10.30 a.m. LONDON, Nov. 19. Tel Avis is quiet today after the raid last night by 40 British soldiers and police on the city's night club quarter in a protest against the recent terrorist attacks on British personnel. Twenty-five Jews were reported injured in the raid. The raiders entered several hotels and cafes, three of which were badly smashed, including the fashionable Armon Hotel where tables were overturned and a well-stocked bar wrecked. There - were scenes of confusion as smartly dressed patrons rushed for the doors. Outside the hotel cars with Jewish drivers or passengers were halted and overturned. The raiders then cleared the streets by firing Sten guns and rifles into the air. British military police restored order. Armoured cars and radio vans are standing by in Allerby Street today, and a stand-to has been ordered for British military police throughout Palestine. Tel Aviv has been placed out=ofbounds for soldiers off duty. It is officially stated that the constables responsible for the attack on the Jews, which was in reprisal for the deaths of their colleagues in a lorry on the night of November 16, are to be punished. The police superintendent gave the Mayor of Tel Aviv an assuranee that steps were being taken to prevent a recurrence of retaliatory incidents. All Jewish and Arab railway workers in Palestine have stopped work in protest against the danger of mines laid bv terrorists.
