A lengthy memorandum, full details of which have already been given publicity, was received from the Minister of Internal Affairs (Hon. W. E. A recommendation was submitted by the works committee that a small charge be made for the removal of householders' excess rubbish, the amount to be generally what a standard bin would not lcontain. It was felt that this would i raise a liumber of difficulties, and the council resolved that in future collections be confined to household rubbish. With reference to the triangle reserve in Cambride Street, opposite the Public Gardens, the works committee reported having received a deputation from the Levin and District Beautifying Society. The engineer had reported that Mr. E. J. Stanley, of the Levin Boys' Training Centre, would do what he could to assist the project. It had been left to the engineer to keep in touch with Mr. Stanley, with a view to preparing the ground for sowing in the autumn, the preparation to consist of ploughing, discing and several scarifyings to loosen up he ground and eradicate weeds as far as possible. The council noted this with appreciation of the further assistance from the Levin Boys' Training Centre.
