Maurice Tlicrez, the leader of the. largest ('omrnunist party outside tlie .Soviet Union, outlined to the Times' Baris eorrespondent Ihe party \s estimate of its own strength and its international outlook. M. Thorez declared that the French Uonimuuist party organised and directed tho armed light against tlie German invaders and \richyites. Turning to foreign affairs M. Thorez said the Oommunists rejocted tlie ide.i that Gormanv should be given a dominant economic position in Furope. The Oommunists asked that the Rulyshould be internationalised, and the Saar brought into tlie French economic svstem. M. Thorez said: "The Comnumists consider an agreenient between France, Britain, ITiited Btates and their Russian allies is neeessary and indispensable. We rcject any policy leading to the forniation of a bloc or exclusivo oricntation towards any of France 's allies. Tlie Oommunists want the Bri tish and French ties of t'riendship aiul alliance drawn tigher. "
