"TRILBY" TO BE FILMED
Commencing one of Hollywood 's • greatest casting programmes, Jack L. Warner has placed "Trilby," George Du Maurier's great classic, on the production schedule at the studios. Indications are that this will atop group production worthy of the immortal Trilby — Svengaii saga, laid in the Latin quarter of . Paris in 1860.
Jeffrey Lynn, recently returned veteran actor now on the Warner Bros.' star list after four years of Army service was married last month to Robin Chandler, fashion editor of the "New York journalAmerican." An English clergyman is writing the script of a film in which Greer Garson, Vincent Price and Herbert Wilcoxon hope to play. The clergyman is the Rev. Bri'an Hession, aged 37, vicar of Hoiy Trinity Church, Aylesbury, England. The title of the film will be "The Hand That Drove the Nails," from Mr. Hession's own hook on the Crucifixion. Fox studios commissioned the script and plan to make the film as a two-hour production in colour. An anonymous actor will take the part of Christ. Rosalind Russell and Melvyn Douglas will be co-starred in "My Empty Heart." Miss Russell's most recent Columbia film was "She Wouldn't Say Yes." The forthcoming film, in which Douglas plays a dramatic role, will be his first since his return from the Army. Glenn Ford, recently named thc "Man of the Year" by the BobbySoxers of America, , became acquainted with an entirely new ianguage the other day. It's called the "Ianguage of the bobby sox." A representative group of teen-agers visited him on the Columbia lot and cnlightened liim on the lollowing bobby-sox symbols. Sox extended thc full length mean that thc wearer has no steady boy friend; sox folded over once signify that the heart has been pledged. Sox rolled into a tight ring just topping he shoe inaicate that a date is being sought. Glen asked whafc was signified when sox were allowed to sag down in a sloppy manner. "Oh that," popped up one youngster, "that's a sign that they bought the wrong size sox!"
