CIVIL SERVICE HEADS EXPRESS SATISFACTION

WELLIXGTOX, Xov. 15. Satisfaction at the fact that tlie leader of the Xational Partv had given ua assurance that the partv 's po!ic\ would not involve retrenchment oi civil servants, was expressed by Mi*. d.j Turnbull. hon. secreturv of the Com i liined State Services' Committee, to day. "This assurance was asked for on behalf of members of the various ser vice organisations whose interests the orgauisations were formed to protect," said llr. Turnbull, "and whose liveliliood had app.eared to )>e threatened. Mr. Ilolland's assurance disposes ot the matter. " Mr. J. P. Lewin, president of the Public Service Association, also stated that the assurance given by Mi*. IIol land ended the matter as far as em plovees under the Commission control on whose behalf he had requested such assurance, were coucerned.
