The Greek Army has issued a corninumque saying .10 men, women and ehiidren and 4."» sohliers were killed in an attaek on the village of Skara in Maeedonia, by a band of 1000 gnerrillas. The tittackers ' easualties were estiniated at more than 100. The Greek Army is now in eontrol of the area following the ar- / rival of sfrong reinforcements, includt i n« meelianised units. Mr. iSofianojioulos, former Greek Foreign Minister, who is at present in Lon-: don. tohi Reuter's diplomatic correspondent that the guerrilla forces now operating in Greece would lav down their sirius oidv if instructed to do so by a Goalition Government in which their own leadors were represented. The purpose of his London visit, he said, was to awaken recognition of the gravity of the present situation in Greece and seek British support for the formation of a Go'ilition Government which alone could end the present drift to disaster. The first task of a Goalition Government would be to grant a general amnesty, disarm all civilians and carrv out a (hnrough purge of State bureaueracy, army police and gendarmerie. It shouid then hold fresh elections after the eleetoral lists had been recompiled. The Daily ATail correspondent at Athens says it is understood the Government is sending an urgent appeal to Fnited Nation? for an Allied Cotfmiission to be sent to examine the situ&tibrt along the northern frontier.
