WOMEN'S INSTITUTES

MEETING AT KIMBERLEY The November meeting of the Kimberley Women's Institute took „ne form of a members' afternoon, the members being responsible for the arrangir.g of the afternoon's programme. Mrs. Benning presided over a large attendance. The meeting opened wi'th the institute song and the aspirations. Members and visitors from the Manakau and Waitarere Institutes, and also members from the Ohau Women's Division of Federated Farmers were welcomed by the president. °» A report of the federation council meeting was read by Mrs. J. Griffith, for which she was accorded a hearty vote of thanks. The proceeds from the bring-and-buy stall totalled £2 15s and this will be donated to the leper fund. During ^he social hour members of the Waitarere Institute presented a play entitled "Snob Court Hotel," and those taking part were Mesdames Fraser, Stanley, Swan and Benning and Miss Stanley. Social competitioris were won by Mesdames Fraser and Dome. The monohiy competitions were won as iiollows: — Best spray: Mrs. McLean 1, Mrs. Field 2, Mrs. Dorne 3. Best ffower:. Mrs. Gawler 1, Mrs. Hagan 2, Mrs. Field 3. The president's competition was won by Mrs. Field. The meeting closed with the sing•ing of the National Anthem. .
