WOMEN IN MINISTRY
WELLINGTON, Nov. 14. The Wellington District Synod of the Methodist Church decided tc reappoint its committee to consider women }s entry into the ministry and furnish proposals for their training anc reception in the full ministry of the church. Bev. W. R. Burley said women should be received in precisely the same manner as men. The report the committee presented was criticised by Bev. G. II. Goodman who said it was very eontradictory and made no recomniendations whatever. The report said the commillee had met twice in Auckland and some membera forwarded suggestions "of a far-reach-ing natuTe ' Many held that tlie question was inseparable from a thorough consideration and revision of the s}rstem of deaconess trainiug and the question of training womem was oue which had to be faced "squarely and courageously ' ; as a paramount issue involving the whole organisation of a wider ministry. The committee approved the principle of equality in both training and status and thought adequate ministerial training for women could best be provided at Auckland by the extension of facilities at Trinity College.
