OBSTETRIC BURSARY

WELLINGTON, Nov. 14. From nine applicants, Miss Joyee A. Alley, district nurse at Frasertown, Hawke's Bay, has been awarded the first obstetric bursary oifered by the Nationai Florence Nightingale Memorial Committee of New Zealand. She will leave for England and Canada within the next few months for approximately six months. During this time she will attend special courses in various aspects of midAvifery work. On her return to New Zealand Miss Alley will be appointed as an additional nurse instructor at a post graduate school of aursing in Wellington and will be responsible for teaching obstetrics. Miss Alley's home is at Upper Riccarton, Christchurch, and she is a graduate of the Christchurch public hospital. She is the holder of a diploma of nursing, being a graduate of the 1941 class at the post-graduate school' "of nursing.
