— Raids By Guerilla Bands ARMY UNITS OVERPOWERED

Received Friday, 9.45 a.m. ATHENS, Nov. 14. The Government is hastily calling conferences of political and militarv leaders following the receipt of confirmation of the news that a guerilla band of 1000 strong is operating in Greek territory in the mountains near the border of Yugoslavia. The band is reported to have overwhelmed two companies of the Greek Army, and is now driving down the valley of the Vardar River. One mountain garrison resisted the band until forty had been killed. Greek Army units sent as a relief were so badly knocked about that they had to give uo. The Greek Prime Minister, M. Tsaldaris, is meeting the Opposition leaders, while the Greek Army stafl is conferring with the British military mission. A spokesman said: "Events in the north are clearly taking the character of an undeclared war against Greece." ____________ __
