Car "Borrowecl" for a Night A motor-car belonging to Mr. W. 3. Long, Levin, was removed from outside his house in Kawiu Road late last night. The police were notifled immediately and a description of the vehicle broadcast. The car, however, was found to be back in its normal place this morning.
Bulls Bridge Progress Progress with ihe bridge over the Rangitikei River at Bulls has reached the stage that the second 1 'contract for the- erection of the I steel girders and spars will soon ' commence. Several societies I of this kind already exist in New j Zealand. In general terms they lare associations of people who are iinterested in the motion pictore as ,art, entertainment and education. Once a society is formed, • dlms are available covering a wide ' variety of subjects. The main j ource of supply is the National Film Library, Wellington, which imakes the fllms available free cf charge from a catalogue of some ! hundreds. The film which has been ! secured for Monday evening has I not been previously screened in (New Zealand. R.S.A. Carnival j An appeal to members/ of the Levin branch of the Returhed J Services' Association to assist in the ] preliminary work which the holct.[ing of the annual carnival would jinvolve, was made by the carnival secretary, Mr. P. Young, at the Iquarterly meeting of the branch (last night; A suitable site had i already been found at Waitarere iBeach, and residents in the locality were giving all the assistance possible. One farmer had even Sffered to transport timber to the
site free of charge, provi'ding the necessary petrol was supplied. The intention was to make this year's carnival outclass all previous- ones, and an attractive six-day pro • gramme had been drawn up. What : was now required was the cooperation of all the members. A ' great deal of preliminary work was I necessary and assistance would also be required during the carnival. It was hoped that a start would be made this weekend, and he appealed to those present to ask all other members to get i-n touch with the ' exec'utive members of the branch or himself, and offer ^ thelr services.
