RELIEF OF AIR PERSONNEL IN JAPAN

WELLINGTON, Nov. 13. Arraugeuients were being made for Llie relief of persoimel serving witli No. 14 Fighter Squadron serving in Japan, said the Minister of Defenee, Hon, F. Jones, today. Opportunitv to volunteer fc'or serviee in Japan was recently extended to serving personnel in '.the R.N.Z.A.F. and resulted in approximately 500 applications being received. In addition a number of airinen had volunteered to remain in Japan for a furtlicr year's extended service. The Dakota aireraft operating on the normal weekly service to Jiipan would bring the men home and carry replacements from New Zea'land. The first draft of replacements wrould probably leave New Zealand before the end of this month and it was expected the first draft of airmen from Japan would arrive at Whenuapai in the first week of December. The relief plain would eontinue until next March when all returning members of the squadron would be repatriated, _
