OBITUARY

— o THE REV..G. C. BLATHWAYT The Rev. George Calvert Blathwayt died in Palmerston North last week at the age of 82. He was a member oi an English family which has been closely associated with the Churcli of England, both his father and grandiather being" clergymen, as well as his two brothers, the Rev. Hubert Blathwayt (Green Meadows, Hawke's Bay) and the Rev. Harry Blath- ! .vay':, whodied in England some uncnths ago. i Mr. Blathwayt was the vicar of a number of parishes in the North and South Islands, including. Wyndham, Balclutha, Port Chalmers and Island Bay. He was for some years principal of the Otaki xVlaori College. Apart from Church work,- his main interest • was the Masonic Lodge, and he was a member of the Rose Croix Chapter. He is oelieved to have been one of tne oldest surviving members of the lodge in New Z- aiand. He is sur(vived by his widow and one son, Mr. W. Blathwayt ( Martinborough ) .
