Received Saturday, 10 a.m. LONDON, Nov. 8. Ships are at present dn th'e Atlantic or loading at Ameriean p'qrts with over 50,000 tons of food for the British zone of Germany,. sa-ys the British United Press correspondenf at British Headquarters in Germany. , A ship at sea is carrying ..8,000 tons of Jflour. Another has 36,000 tons of flour, and 7,000 tons of bats are to be loaded at Ameriean ports during the second half of November. , A British Headquarters statement explained that these ships are carrying part of the normal import programme, whieh has been held up by the Ameriean shipping strike. Government officials, giving the figures of the food supplies, said the crisis was the direct result of transport difficulties. The United States strike had held up cargoes necessary to the British programme and designed to -mahitahi the 1550calory ration in the British zohe. Farmers this season produced enough wheat for a 2i months ration— 700,000 toris — but the lack of transport and labour is making the collection of the harvest difficult.
