IriAKAltA'S MONthly meeting There. was^a large attendance of members ap the vNoVember meetihg of the Ihakara Womeri's Institute, Mrs, Mark pre'siding. Th'e presideiit read an intferestihg report on tne fecent council meetihg at Paekakariki, ahd Mrs. Henderson and MisS M. Hall were chosen as delegates to represent the institute at the first birthday of the Levin juni'or branch. A letter was read from the institute's lihk in Engiand, Hatfield-Hyde, describing the des'perate food situation in the t Old Country, and 1.4 members sponjtaneously off'ered , to be responsible f'or personal food parcels to. link members, and ihany more institute food parc'els will be packed by the COinmittee. The total number of parcels to be sent withiii the next few mdriths will be approximately 50, • representiiig One parcel per member. It was decided to give- a donation towards the Christmas tree foi' the Weraroa Boys' Home, and also to join the Other New zealand inStitutes in the giVing of a preserit to Princess Elizabeth oh her 21st birthday. The resUlts of the competitions were: — Fiowef: Mrs. I. Taylor and Mi'S. Armstrong 1 (equal) , Mrs. Malcolm 2, Mrs. ElliOtt and Mrs. Hall 3 (equalj. Shrubs:- Mrs. j. Bolston 1, .MesdaiheS ROlstori, Brooks and Hall 2 (equal), Mrs, Mdlcdlm 3. Roints: Mrs. Hudson 1, Mrs. Tfotter 2. • Vegetable: Mrs. Brooks, Cake: Mrs. Nichol. Potatoes: Miss Forsyth. Social competition: MrS. Rolston. A very successful brihg-and-buy stall was conducted by Mesdames Elliott and Cotter.
