MUST HAVE MORE VANS
INVERCARGILL, Nov. 7. "I am satished one of the main causes for the absence of liousehold deliveries is ihe absence of sullicient light commercial vehicles," said the Leader of the Opposition, Mr. S. G. Holland, at Invercargill tonight. "For six years very few vehicles have been imported, with the result that many which have gone off the road have not been replaced. I understand supplies of suitablc vehicles are available in excess of the licences which have been issued to import. "This question of household deliverids is a burning oue," said Mr. Holland. "It is essential that sufficient vehicles should be made available if New Zealand's women are to revert to their proper spliere instead of being the nat- ! ion's packhorses. " klarked scenes of enthusiasm greeted Mr. Holland when he took the plat- ! form at the Civic Theatre. Hundreds were unable to gain admission and an overflow meeting was held in an adjoining hall. Mr. Holland was frequentlv applauded and a unanimous vote of thanks was carried.
