Some Good Gallops Seen

Candidates for the Levin spring meeting tomorrow went thrOugh their final tasks yesterday morning. Many. visitors were present, including Sedgmere, Valley Boy, Mysterious Melody and Lyn Vaals. A number of good gallops were seen, among the best being that of Autoshine, Master Gain and Po Marama. The fcrack is still firm and would be improved by a little rain. Flying Faye was first out, doing seven furlongs on the plough very easily. She is fit and should race prominently on Saturday. Her main difficulty is that she has trouble to find her feet when the barrier lifts, but she will overcome this in time. Lyn Vaals was inclined to loaf as she tovered a round on the plough. She is an attractive looking filly, but may require more experience. Five furlongs were completed by Repudiate and Clyde Bridge. Both; hit' out very freely. St. Hilton was ! given three rojinds on the plough 1 while Gushing did a similar task, speeding up in the final round. Colorado Maid was. given two rounds on the plough, accomplishing her task very well. Valley Boy was allotted' to two rounds on the plough and is very fit. : High Assay with a companion went five furlongs well. Both were under strong hold. Sunstream accomplished 29 for two furlongs. He looks in good condition. Autoshine travelled a stirling four furlongs — easily the best of the morning. Roblyn, who will probably make his first appearance at the Feilding meeting, was trotted twice round on the plough. Peter Robinson went three times. round on the plough. He should be in demand on Saturday as he looks a picture of condition. Sergeant Jack performed well over six furlongs while under a good hold. The improving horse, Pollux, covered six furlongs in an attractive style. He hit out very freely and is in good form at present. Sheilwyn was given a gallop twice round the course. Sedgmere and Mysterious Melody were also given gallops on the plough. Both were making their first appearance on the track. Transmitter was given three rounds on the plough. He was very anxious to hit out. The highlight of the morning was a three furlong gallop between Po Marama (Waddell) and Incident (Clutterbuck). Po Marama did not get the best of their start and failed to bridge the gap separating him from Incident. Fluctuation (Mullins) and Tideen (Frost) left the four furlong peg, the former racing the better of the two. Fluctuation is a stoutly-bred horse by Inflation from Fiery Gold, and a member of the No. 9 family, tracing to Drought, sister to Mentor. a winner of the Melbourne Cup. Theioway (Clutterbuck). ran" a good mile under st strbng hoLdc i Master Gain (Clutterbuck) coveredfive furlongs in '1.8 — a record. for the morning. Robeology (Mullins) covefed the same distance, but was not timed. She seems well forward.
