WELLINGTON, Nov. 7. A denial of a suggestion that, because of extended hours of work, some members of tbe Police Force were not in a lit condition to remain alert, was made by the Minister in charge of Police, Hon. W. Nash, in a letter to the Associated Cliambers of Commerce. "Through inability to obtain cleaners there are instances where junior members of the force have to sweep out ofiices but in no case does the publie interest suffer through tliis," added the letter. "Men who are nnfitted for regular police duties are eniployed in a clerical capacity and the majority of the men employed on clerical duty are efficient typists."
