Pcrson3/l Mrs. Hoggard has presented a set of embroidered purificators in a pouch of red cloth to St. Paul's Church at Paraparaumu. The gift is one greatly appreciated. Misses Dulcie and Noela Taylor, who have just spent a two weeks' enjoyable holiday in Auckland, have returned to their home m Otaki. The funeral of the late Mr. W. A. Hamilton took place in Wanganui yesterday, when the body was cremated in.the presence of many relatives and friends. Vicarage Funds Miss G. Mowbray and Mr. T. W. Brown have collected the sum of £65 for the vicarage repaid fund for the Anglican Church at Waikanae. Boy Scouts' Conference Boy scout commissioners from various parts of New Zealand recently attended a weekend conference at Raumati Soutn. A Record Catch What is without doubt a record catch of whitebait in Otaki was recorded on Monday, when one man netted no less than 5 cwt. The fish was despatched "to Wellington at a high price.
Xmas Fair The Xmas fair, to be held m connection with the Paraparaumu Anglican Church, will be opened by Mr. W. Appleton, Mayor of Wellington, who will be accompanied by Mrs. Appleton. Pension Payments Family benefits will be paid out at the Otaki Post Office on Monday, November 11, old age pensions on the 20th, widows, invalids and orphans on the 21st, war pensions on the. 22nd and war veterans' pensions on the 29th. Illcgal Fishing Auoention has been drawn to a matter of alleged illegal fishing of whitebait at Te Horo, where it is stated that persons from outside the district frequently break the law in netting the fish. It is said that the practice has been going on for some time, and it is understood that the attention of the inspector has. been drawn to the fact. Special Services A letter from the Primate of New Zealand has been sent to all clergymen in the Dominion askin? that special services be held wherever possible on Sunday, November 10. Remembrance Sunday, formerly known as Armistice Sunday. This Sunday has been observed as a day of remembrance for the fallen in the World War I for many years, and those who died in the last war are now to be remembered on that day. Services will commenee at 10.45 a.m. so that the two minutes' silence may be observed.
