BACONERS BRING HIGH PRICES

WEEKLY SALE IN LEVIN There were very small yardings of wethers and ewes at the Levin weekly stock sale yesterday, and prices in spite of the smaller yafdings dropped from 2s to 3s a head. Fair yardings of spring lambs met ready competiti.on, and good woolly hoggets were "keenly sought. No store sheep were penned. An average entry of beef came forward, values remaining steaay wnn last week's prices. No veal was yarded, but several pens of runners sold freely. Dairy cattle close to profit were keenly sought by city supply. Several sound dairy bulls changed hands at prices in excess of the vendors' expectations, and boners and store cattle sold at late market rates. Large entries of pork and bacon came forward, and the prices were maintained. A top price of £6 5s for the season was realised for a baconer. Several pens of top weight baconers made £6 or better. Store pig prices were still high, the best classes making £3 10s. The followiflg prices were realised: — Sheep: Prime woolly wethers, 40s ld to 41s lOd; shorn wethers, 29s lOd, 30s 7d, 31s lOd to 32s 4d; extra prime woolly ewes, 33s lOd to 34s lOd; medium, 30s to 33s 4d; light and unfinished, down to 27s 4d; prime spring lambs, 31s lOd to 32s lOd; lighter, 28s lOd to 30s 4d; prime w.f. woolly hoggets,- 37s 4d; prime b.f. woolly hoggets, 32s 7d to 34s lOd; medium w.f. woolly hoggets, 31s 7d to 31s lOd; small b.f. woolly hoggets, 26s 4d to 31s ld.
