FIREMEN AT SNOOKER

SOCIAL AT MANGAORE Pollowing the usual fortnightly meeting of the Shannon Volunteer Fire Brigade on Monday evening, members of the brigade journeyed to Mangaore, where they were entertained by members of the Mangaore Social Club. The funciion took the form of a snooker tournament, with cards filling in between games. The firemen were successful in winning three cf the five games played. Most of the games were keenly contested and on a number of occasions it was only by last minute runs that ihe firemen were successful. The results of the games were ?s follows, brigade members being mentioned first: C. D. Gyde and K. Clough defeated A. Callesen and J. Baker 51 to 31, C. Tremewan and N. Richards lost to D. Simes and B. Coulter 26 — 62, G. McEwan and W. S. Forbes lost to E. Beech and Gardner 41 — 59, W. Harding and N. Richards defeated J. D. Campbcil and J. Baker 55 — 27, C. D. Gyde and K. Clough defeated D. Simes and A. Callesen 52 — 48. Following the games a most delightful supper was ser/ca by the Mangaore playcrs. The brigade members were all unanimous in their appreciation of the hospitality of their hosts, and stated that a most enjoyable evening had been spent.
