Personal Canon Fry left for Wellington 'yesterday to attend the Diocesan Synod, now sitting in the city. The many friends of Mr. Ken Taylor will regret to learn that he is a patient at the Palmerston North Hospital. . _ Mr. Ernie Brown, at one time a well-known resident of Otaki and now of Wellington, is at present on holiday at Tasman Beach. The death occurred on Sunday night of the Mayoress of Ohakune, Mrs. De la Mar. The deceased lady, who was a Miss O'Connell prior to her marriage, was at one time a well-known resident of Otaki. The late Mr. William Andrew (Bill) Hamilton, who passed away at the Palmerston North Hospital on Sunday night, was well-known in" Otaki, and. was highly respected by his many friends. Mr. Hamilton, who had been in very indifferent health for some time, was a wellknown bowler and popular with his many mates. He was also a returned soldier. The deceased leaves a widow, for whom much sympathy is felt. Hall Lcase Terminated The lease of Otaki Amusements, Ltd., over the .Railway Hall has tenninated, but the building is still on the list of properties for sale. Otaki Exchange It will be welcome news to telephone subscribers to know that additional assistance has been asked for, in view of the large amount of work that has to be encountered locally. Otaki Flower Show On account of the Railway Hall being unavailable for the rose show to be held on November 12, the Anglican Hall has been secured ■ for the purpose. Schedules in connection with this event are now available. Otaki's Rainfall The rainfall in Otaki for October was 4.09 inches, the highest fall being 1.33 in. on the 1st. Rain fell on sixteen days. There was snow on the ranges on three occasions and two slight frosts. The month was both windy and cold, and on only two occasions was there clear sky at 9 a.m. October, 1945, showed sixteen wet days, and a rainfall of 4.15 inches. It will be noticed that days of rain and rainfall were much the same for the ' past two Octobers.
