TRADE TREATY SIGNED

"The1 nfdst f'avour.ed nation dau.se stipulates that in the event of United States granting certain rights to any tliird countrv, it would be obliged to grant equai rights to Cliina, although United States is not required to grant Cliina the same trade advantages as it does to Cuba and the PliilipjHnes. This clause also covers miuing rights. The treaty wipes out tlie last vestiges of extratenitoriality.
