Englisli horses next year will be eligible to partieipate in most French classies inchuling the Frencli Derby ( Prix du Joekey Club '), Frencli Oaks (Prix de Uiane), French St. Legei' (1'rix Royal Oaks) and Frencli (fuineas. It has often been asked, says the Times Paris corresjiondent, why Hnglish horses are barred froni all French classies except the Grand Prix. The rule barring t'oreign horses from Frencli classies, was made in 1833 as a means of protecting Frencli breeding but it is now fe.lt, after the snccesses of French horses m England this season. tliat French breeding needs no further protection.
