CHRISTMAS MAIL TO FORCES IN JAPAN
; AUCKLAND, Oct. 31. t Alfhou'gh fears have been expressed that pnrcels recently posted to the armed forees in Japan would not reach there by Uhristmas, it was stated by Post Ortiee officials that they expeeted the shipment to reae-h that eountry in ample time for distribution before tinui. It is several weeks sinee the last pareels were despatched and although a large number of bags of pareels has aecumulated, no diffieulty was anticipated in elearing tliem wlien transport arrivod. It was pointed out that Auckland was tlie collection eentre for the whole of New Zealand as far as pareels for Japan were concerned and that they would be loaded liere on the Nellore. No deflnite schedule is available for the Nellore which is due from Svdney 011 Monday but the'vessel will proceed to Wellington and Lyttelton before sailing for Japan direct. A trip from Lyttelton to Kure is planned and the Nellore should clear New Zealand before the end of the month and thus arrive several days before Xmas. — --yg
