FUNCTION AT POROUTAWHAO The appreciation of the citizens □f Poroutawhao of the part played by local men who • have returned from overseas was ably expressed by the , large gathering which attended a weiecme home function held recently in the Poroutawhao Hall. The feature of the evening was the attendance of the Horowhenua Pipe Band, which piped ahe gues.ts into the hall and played ;everal numbers during the evening. The hall was tastefully decorated and dance music was supplied by Mr. T. Hartley's four piece band. The dancex was preeeded by a banquet in Levin organised by Mr. H. L. Kilsby. Guests of honour were: Messrs. P. B. Bartholomew, T. N. Hartley, G. W. Hannam, P. Alywood, T. Kerehoma, K. N. Lewis, R. L. Neil, B. :Rowe, G. A. Speirs, B. Stewart, J. O. Stewart and C. W. Tait. Apologiep were received from Messrs. J. 'Hirini, W. Tatana, T. M. Paurini, D. O. Lawson, R. J. Scott, F.'G. Aldrich, L. H. Bovey, I. L. Moffatt and J. Henderson. Mr. o! E. Hemmingsen, who is still serving in Japan, sent greetings. , The function was arranged by the'_ Poroutawhao Overseas War Service Entertainmrnt Committee.
