11,000 WATCH MATCH WITH ENGLISHMEN Eeeeived Monday, 8.15 p.m. ADELAIDE, Oct. 28. Hammond elosed the M.C.C. team's first innings without batting today. The South Australian team opened badly, losing the first two wickets for .only 26 runs. Ridings missed Teaching double figures. Suceessful in his new role as opening batsman Bradman scoi'ed five singles in the first 33 minutes. He opened out later in bursts but only seored four t'ours in the first 50 niinutes and took 93 minutes to reach 25 runs. Bradman collided witli Smith as the bowler was attempting to take a fast return, and was injured in the thigh. He limped for a niinute but resumed the innings with Eidings. Bradman added 83 in 78 minutes with the third wicket still intaet. Bradman 's score of 50 in the partnership with Eidings, took 52 minutes. Jaines, with Bradman, took 38 minutes to add another 50. James hit the only six since the start, off Langridge. Bradman had not added to his tea score of 76 when he gave Smith a soft catch ofi" his own bowliug. He batted 151 minutes. • Bradman was never troubled throughout the innings but, at the same time, never gave any promise of a full-blooded attack on the bowlinn.
