GOERING KNEW WHAT HANGING WAS LIKE
LONDON, Oct. 28. Allegations that the Nuremberg executions were badlv bungled by the American Armv hangman, Sgt. Woods, are appearing in the New York press, stales tiro Dailv Graphic. Oue American correspondent calded his paper, describing the scene below the gallows as a "shambles". The Graphic says that aithough ollicial pliotographs of the exeeution will not be pubiished in Brilain, tliey appear to support Ajner'ican criticisms. Mr. Gault McGowan, Nuremberg correspondent of the New York f8un says Ihe result is "not attributed to negligeneo or inhumanity but to inexperience. ! ' Another American report says the American Armv chaplaiiT who was" with Goering when he died, claimed Goering carried the poison pliial in a kangaroo like poiLch grafted on Ihe fleslrv part of his body. The cliaplain said Goering several times expressed fear of death by hauging beeause lie believed it would be bungled and lie would die a slow death by strangulation. Goering was convinced his death would take a quarter of an hour and said: "1 have hanged several persons myself and knowh.ow it is done.,; .
