BARNETT FAIRS GAMES
Despite the unfavourable conditions, some thirty players assembled on the Otaki green yesterday and indulged in Barnett pairs, when interesting games resulted. In some instances there were close xinishes, the final head being the deciding factor. Hurrell and Baker uied for the skips, but in the playoff the former won, cutting out Baker's shot which lay alongside kitty. Barron won for the leads. Following are the results:— Skips: Hurrell and Baker four each, F. S. and P". Simcox three each Grey, Crowley, Cahiii, Pike and Merwood two each, Walsh, Robertson, Nicolson and Kearns one each, Temuera nil. Leads: Barron 4, Moss and R. Merwood 3, Osborne, Whitehorn, D. Noble, Buxton, Keay and Atmore two each, Whitelaw, J. Noble, Evans, Finlayson and Bartosh one each. uuring the afternoon Mr. Robertson, in the absence of ihe presidcnt, made reference to the death of Mr. "Pat" Hcaly, who he referred to not only as a good bowler, but a good member generally, and a man who would be missed by his many friends. All wouid regrct to lose one who was oO popular. As a mark of respect all stood in silence.
