Whitebait Season The whitebait season, which has been a fairly good one so far, closes on November 15. Post Office Holiday The Otaki Post Office will be closed on Monday (Labour Day) . Mails will not be despatched or received. The telephone exchange will be open continuously, and will accept urgent telegrams only. Shop Day at Otaki The Otaki branch of the Labour Party held a very successful shop day in Main Street on Friday, goods 'selling readily. Those in charge worked splendidly, and were deserving of the success that attended their efforts. Flooded River The heavy rains of the past few days have been responsible for causing the Otaki River to flood, but luckily the new "cut" has been the means of the water subsiding more quickly than otherwise would have been the case. The "cut" promises to be of value to propertyowners and others affected.
