CARD EVENING
I Despite a wet night and counter I attractions, a merry crowd assembled at the residence of Mr. and Mrs. McGilligan, Tasman Road, to contest the popular prizes and add to ;the scouts' fund. The card rooms j were beautifully decorated with i spring blooms, while the pretty ! dresses of the ladies presented a j gay and animated scene. | After four rounds of keen play, • the prizes fell to the following: i Mrs. McGilligan and Mrs. Housiaux, 1 500 top prizes; Mrs. W. Wright, bridge. Mrs. H. Jackson sat in the lucky chair, and Mr. Evans won the surprise packet. After a delicious supper, provided by the Scouts' Committee, had been partaken of, Mr. Berry thanked Mr. and Mrs. McGilligan for their kindness in lending their home. As Mr. and Mrs. Berry are leaving for Waipukurau, Mr. Evans, on behalf of the card players, presented the departing guests with a small silver token of esteem, eulogising all Mr. and Mrs. Berry Ihad done in scout work, and wish- ; ing them every success in their new ! home. The next party will be held on ■ Tuesday, November 5, at Mrs. Synnott's, Waerenga Road.
