HOW BRITAIN VIEWS 40-HOUR WEEK
Received Tkursday, 7.55 p.m. LONDON, Oct. 24. Mr. Attlee will today tqll the T.U.C. conference which yesterday unanimously called for a 40-hQiir week, that the Government is sympathetic and will support their claim — hut not now. The Government 's view, says the Daily Express Lahour correspondeut, is that national industrial recovery has not yet sutficiently advanced to justify the iminediate consideratipn of a five-day working week, It is, however, Oahinet's intention to introduce it as soqn as it proves economically sound. '
