Forest Protection
The Air Department amiounces that the R.N.Z.A.F. has begun- operUting a fire patrol* fiig'ht in the* Rotorua-Kiangaroa area. This operation is a seasonal one carried' out in co-operation with the* State Forestry Service during- the months' when the fire danger is most prevalent, and will cohtinue until April next year. The flight has to be* constantly on call for observing and locating fires and it will. also carry out communication fl'igMs for State' forestry offieials. Aircraft normally used will be two DB Tigcr* Moths' and one* DH Fox Moth using Rotorua airfield as the base.
