BAND'S STREET DAY
OBJECTlVE TO KAISE £200 Permission render a programme in Oxford Street between* 7 ^nd 8 p.m. on Friday " next at the conclusion of its combined street aind shop-day appeal was fegtrested by the Levin Municipal Barid itt a letter rdeeived by the Levin Borough Council at a meeting last evening. • " - The Mayor (Mr. IT. B. Burdekin) said .the band was endeavouring by this means to express its appreciatibn of the public's support of the5 appeal during the day, and to show the urogress it had? made.- It was fnoped to raise £200 in the effort, and) & very energetic committee was Working towards that end. A band Of ladies was very active and country residents- were getting behind it. "We would like to see the effort a great success/' added His WorShip, "and show the band that we appreciate what it is doing." The council agreed to the. band playing in the town during the evening.
