RIFLE CLUB DANCE
STJCCESSFUL SEASON CLOSES Thc Shannon Minialure Rifle Club closed its activities for 1946 on Thursday evening, when a most successful dance and presentation of trophies was held, The dancing public was well -represented and t.here were many visitors, Prior to tlie presentation of trophies a number of past and present members of the club who had served with the forces overseas were gathered on the stage for an official welcome home. In his remarks, Mi\ F. J. Lucinsky stated that it was indeed a pleasure to see so many old faces around, and he hoped that they would be keen members next season. Mr. Lucinsky then called on Mrs. E, L, Hyde to make the presentation of trophies won during' the season. in making the presentations, Mrs. Hyde extended congratulations to the club on the successful season just ende'd/ and wished it every success in the future. The Hyde Shield and. miniature cup was won by Ronnie WilkinsoiL who at the age of nine, was considered the most improved shot of the club. Ronnie is one of the youngest members of the club, and towards the latter stages of the season was returning very gopd targets. Next season he should tie among the top of the junior section. The runnerup as best improved shot was J. Moore, and A. Lang was third. The best aggregate off the rifle, junior section, was J. Birss with I. Sayer second and G. Kennard third. In the ladies section, Miss Joan Birss scored the best aggregate off the rifle, with Miss M. Easton and Miss V. Birss equal for second. The four weekly junior shoots were won by J. Birss, P, Ropoama, A. Clough and Miss Joyce Pigott. In the senior section the Judd Medals were won by the following: — A grade: J. Reid; runner-up: R. Scanlon. B grade: A. Burke; run-ner-up: A. Third. C grade: H. Munford; runner-up: P. Third. The four weekly shoots were won by J. Lucinsky (4) and A. Judd in the A grade, V. Guerin, A. Third, N. Batt and E. T. Wilson in the B grade and I. Ray and M. Bang (2) in the C grade.
