First Australian picture to. be guaranteed world-wide distribui/ion, Columbia's "Smithy" was received with great enthusiasm by that company's New York and Hollywood executives, and goes into immediate release in Amcrica, according to a reccnt cable received by the Columbia office inWellington, from their managing'director and producer of "Smithy," Mr. N. P. Pcrry, who is at present in Hollywood. In its rccent world premiere in the Sydney State Tlieatre, "Smithy" equalled the run of any previous picture released in that theatre, with the sole exception of "A Song to Remember." "Smithy" is due to be released in Wellington this month, being the next change of programme in oric of the ieading theatres.
